Managing Operations and the Value Chain in Healthcare

In its groundbreaking report, Crossing the Quality Chasm (2001), the Institute of Medicine highlighted the need for more attention to care processes and to the need for a systems approach to healthcare delivery. Using cases, this course will show how such concepts, practices, and tools of operations management can be used in healthcare. Specifically, students will learn the techniques of process mapping, bottleneck identification, and capacity management.
